The other day, I texted this to josh: 

a text exchange between josh and me where I talked about all the errands I got done by bicycle in 15 minutes & he recounted his feeling of luck that we live near a co-op

Living in a smallish town, my (mundane) tasks feel doable, and sometimes (like on this day) - really nice. I’ve never waited more than a few minutes at the post office, the walgreens staff are chatty (which I enjoy), and our (brand new!) library is efficient and such a nice space to be. 

When I lived in a bigger city, I found so many of these tasks so deeply overwhelming- the post office line regularly took 30min+, and the staff were palpably frustrated (which I totally empathize with), ditto walgreens. I’m not sure I ever even made it into the library- everything was bigger, louder, more crowded, and farther apart.
